The IAS exam is difficult to pass in a year. It requires years of preparation. If you prepare well, are focused, dedicated, and smart, it is possible to pass the exam in one year. You must put in the effort to accomplish all this.

  1. Syllabus

  5. Preliminary
    1. The current affairs score is between 20-50 percent depending on the year. This can be accessed by reading through EDEN IAS, GK Today’s monthly current issues, or EDENIAS to find the one that suits your needs. This should be read at least three times to gain a full understanding.

    3. Geography, History Classic texts like the NCERT or Bipin Chandra are the best sources of information. These texts are sufficient. It’s not enough to talk about it as a polity. It will be easier to understand the issues.

  6. GS Preparation + Essay (Mains)
    1. GS 1 is the most factual and takes the longest time to complete. It is also 90% based on theoretical concepts directly from books, and only 5- 10% of current news.
      1. You must be able to effectively present the information. Use of maps and diagrams in Geography is a necessity. Flow charts are used in the Sociology section. Key words are used in the History section.

However, it is not relevant for the mains except for the foundational understanding and sections on Rights, as well as general constitutional questions and Supreme Court cases.
